“Beet kvass” is getting more and more popular nowadays. It is a potent tonic with powerful medicinal properties, made by process of fermentation of stale bread. It is originated in Eastern Europe and has a distinct taste and a plethora of health benefits.

Ingredients

Beet kvass recipe is very simple and easy to make. It requires only a few minutes, and several days for a process of fermentation. This recipe is for six beet kvass servings:
  • Four beetroots (organic)
  • Water (purified)
  • flavorings (optional): ginger, lemon, orange or spices
  • One tablespoon of Himalayan salt
  • Glass Jar

Preparation Method

  1. Wash the beetroots, chop them into small pieces and put them in the glass jar.
  2. Then fill the glass the jar with water, leaving only one inch unfilled. Put flavorings and Himalayan salt in the jar.
  3. Cover the jar with a cloth, towel, or cheesecloth, and secure it with some rubber band or string.
  4. Leave the jar at a regular temperature for 3 to 5 days. Check it on a daily basis and remove any sum if formed on the top of the liquid.
  5. The drink is ready for consumption when you notice sparkling bubbles on the top and when it changes the color to a red, deep color.
  6. Then replace the towel (cloth) with a lid, and store it in the refrigerator where it will continue the fermentation process.
  7. It is recommended to consume 3 – 4 ounces twice a day when the beverage is ready. It will completely cleanse your system and it will reestablish regularity to the bowel movements.
